Seto song legends will be heard on the sands of Piusa this August. MTÜ Taarka Pärimusteater will present a summer performance based on Seto folklore, called “Inemise igä”. The performance was inspired by song legends, the mythical world of runo song, a time when Jesus and Mary were alive. The story centres on a village community where a stranger appears one day. Appearing to be crazy, he nevertheless emanates eternal wisdom. “Inemise igä” is a summer theatre that offers a look at how a unique people lived in one of the most natural scenic parts of Estonia.
The dramatist is Kristiina Jalasto, director Helena Kesonen, musical director Kristjan Priks and the set designer is Mailiis Laur. Adding a further touch of authenticity is the fact that actors from Taarka Heritage Theatre will be joined by leading lights of the future Estonian theatre – acting students from the 11th graduating class at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy.
