Seasons
There is always something to do in Setomaa, because every season has its own magic. The most eventful season, of course, is summer. This is the time for festivals, mushrooming and kirmas -- visiting the graves of the departed. Autumn, with its lovely colors, is more peaceful, but berry pickers and mushroomers flock to the forests and life goes forward at full speed. Winter in Setomaa is the time of fires, oven-baked meals, ski trails, and everyone has time to think and speak. Spring is the time of fasting, which ends with an energetic Easter. Then the season of festivals and kirmas begins again.
