Maslenitsa

It is the Seto custom to have a party before Great Lent begins. The women leelo singers are sure to be in attendance so they can sing, dance and play instruments one last time before the fast. The songs show the importance of Maslenitsa (Maaselitsa) in Seto culture, the spirit is girded for the 40 days of austerity. Visitors will be offered blini, hot tea and some stronger libations. Another old custom is to see how long one can slide over ice.
