Kaika suvõülikuul (Kaika Summer University)
Over three days, the summer university will offer lectures and discussions on topics centring this year on the Vastseliina parish and the culture of Vana-Võromaa in general. Besides lectures, exhibitions and an evening cultural programme will be offered. Various excursions are planned in Tsiistre and environs. Kids will have their own training led by language teachers from the Võru Institute. A detailed programme will be announced in early July.
Kaika Summer University is a traditional summer gathering that usually attracts around 200 participants. It was first held in 1989 in Kaika in Karula parish, and that’s where it got its name. From that time on, it’s been held in a different place each year.
