Seto Easter
Easter is a very important holiday in the Orthodox Christian calendar. Because of differences in calendars, Easter is often held later in Setomaa than in the rest of Estonia. In several villages, such as Obinitsa, Easter is celebrated by gathering at an egg hill (munaloomka). This is a small sand hill where people compete by roll eggs down the hill. All guests are invited to take part! It would be good to bring your own eggs along. The egg rolling begins at about noon. On this day, one can sing, dance, and have fun again after the long fast.
Guests are kindly requested to come in small groups and to respect local customs.
