Obinitsa Cemetery

The oldest section of Obinitsa Cemetery - its miniature burial mounds - dates back more than 1500 years. The more recent section, in the southern part of the cemetery grounds, was established in the late 19th century. The cemetery also has some rare Western Seto stone graves which are around 700  years old. A number of well-known Estonians are buried here, including 'Mother of Seto Song' Hilana Taarka (1856-1933), priests Polikarp Muraveiski and Peeter Tamm and teachers Anne Valdre and Adele Kuika.
